Two companies of airsofters duked it out over control points at Splat Action in Molalla. In the end Alpha company (MARPAT) was victorious.

Many players with Alpha company owed the success to the good organization. Platoons and squads stayed together and reacted well to the chain of command.

"I haven't seen such a well oiled machine on the battlefield in years" - MRowell, Alpha Company C.O.

At OP: Thunderstrike we got to welcome Ric Raddue (Nightshade) back to the active roster from a short hiatus.

In June two members, Matt Rowell and Tyler Lewis, are getting married. Congrats to them.

Saturday June 12th Catch22 is organizing "Pacifica Wars" in Scappoose. It is a milsim game based around parts of the Northwest seceding from the Union.

Recent recruiting activity:
Cody Patterson joins us as a recruit. Cody has been playing airsoft since 2007, and tourney paintball before that.
Mitch David joins us as a recruit. Mitch started airsoft as an Actor in CQC7 (remember the crime boss?). He brings with him years of experience shooting fools.
Zach Dacid joins us as a recruit. Zach is always eager to get into the thick of things and shoot fools.
Tom Bechtol finished his recruiting period and joins as a member. Tom is a 30+ year Navy veteran and brings his experience to the team.
Ray Beran joins as a recruit.APSThttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15856888534357720661noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8459509847319334273.post-6386866288319469732010-02-10T09:51:00.000-08:002010-02-10T10:45:16.971-08:00New Blood!<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 136px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUgetuaX5IXKKykTbweRB-MWB_WN6Os0g6a8WPu0dbV-6uNYJ6ucLvjw2zu2QCDj_IyeghUUXHCHSDE5f5SgIQIr5L0C8UwnbqIua3yMzON9yvBzQqcOwGSeHm_FDmC5eWikaB4LaF3BM/s400/New_Members.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436686783387935666" />
This has been an exciting Month for APST. Here's a quick recap:

In October about a third of the team showed for the glorified skirmish "Faction Wars 2.1" at the T1T field in Keizer. It was good times and of course we rolled the enemy hard wherever we went.

In December a couple of us played at OP: End of Lies at the St. Paul field. For the most part the game was a disorganized clusterfuck with a large portion of cheaters. By noon the Op had completely fallen apart and we hung around until 3pm when the 'copter finally showed up (3 hours late). At this point Amos got to ride around in the R44 shooting at the people on the ground skirmishing with his M249.

January 2010 brought us Conflict Europe part 4. Due to the event promoter banning alcohol (but not goats apparently) at the campout, we elected to hold our campout at a set of suites in a nearby hotel. APST Rifleman "Variable" colluded with other NATO based teams for the NATO Indoor Campout which was a huge success.

At the game the next day APST played the role of NATO Special Forces, and Kevin "Top" H. played the role of NATO commander. Our first set of objectives was to locate a geocache with intel on an Axis double agent, then locate the agent. We completed these objectives without any trouble, located the agent and received intel directing us to a point behind enemy lines that need to be destroyed. The intel proved to be wrong, but we got the correct location from another source, penetrated the enemy lines and destroyed the objective.

Our next objective involved a snatch of the Axis leader. Due to an intelligence foulup, the snatch turned into a "kill everyone at the enemy CP" mission. After that, lacking any new objectives from the game Admins, APST defaulted to general order number one; kill everything in sight.

By days end NATO had won the battle, and the Axis had learned that well organized mature players will always defeat numerically superior hoards of meatshields.

With the impetus of a victory under our belts we came to the decision that in order to maintain a strong showing at games (even though we all have non-airsoft responsibilities) we need to increase our numbers. We've contacted several mature players in the community and added them as recruits, welcomed back two players that had gone inactive, and opened up a general channel for players interested in recruitment.

Any player 18+ interested in APST should contact Gunny.APSThttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15856888534357720661noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8459509847319334273.post-68541653011797002792009-05-23T20:29:00.000-07:002009-05-23T20:32:03.212-07:00Christmas Tree Farm of Doom
<o:smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" name="State"></o:smarttagtype><o:smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" name="City"></o:smarttagtype><o:smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" name="place"></o:smarttagtype>
Our newest recruit John M. invited us out to skirmish with a small group in Canby, Oregon.

Six of us from APST showed up and we got to it.

The group that was hosting the skirmish was armed with Aftermath, dboys, and a mix of other lower end AEGs. Teams are graded on time and other factors to determine the winner.

Pictures: http://blacksierra.net/index.php?option=com_phocagallery&view=category&id=15%3Absp-challenge&Itemid=58

For competitions like this body armor "counts". In field games a hit is "lethal" no matter where you get hit. But in a competition your body armor will save your life. When hit in the armor you must take a knee for 10 seconds after which you are "recovered".

Mission 1: Private Security Detail
The teams will depart the staging area in 3-4 soft (unarmored) vehicles and take a female VIP to a cabin in the woods near the city of Hillsboro.
The teams must have all their gear and weaponry hidden from view from outside the vehicles.
To this end APST wore civillian clothes, large jackets, low profile concealable body armor and carried pistols and submachineguns under our jackets. One of our members in the rear vehicle (hate truck) had a boxed LMG, which he used to wipe out a van full of bad guys.

On the way to the cabin it was our mission to maintain radio communication car-to-car and watch for any "suspicious" activity.

At the location where we were supposed to deliver the VIP there is an ambush.
For the purposes of the game mechanics, certain vehicles are "disabled" and the teams need to move the VIP to a functional vehicle to extract her.

About half the teams competing lost their VIP during the ambush.

APST upon hitting the ambush deployed smoke grenades from each vehicle, dismounted and engaged the ambushing forces. The two bodyguards assigned to the VIP moved her to a functional vehicle and the mission indexed (end of exercise).

Some teams failed to neutralize all the enemy combatants, some teams lost their VIP, some experienced heavy casualties. APST suffered no casualties and eliminated all threats. This is where practice and training for this scenario type paid off.

Mission 2: Drug sting
In this mission the player team has to send in an undercover officer to ascertain whether the bad guys (actors) have a large quantity of drugs in their possession. After that has happened, the rest of the players (simulating a sheriff's office SWAT team) move in to arrest the suspects.

The UC part of the mission had some hitches, but the SWAT part of the mission went well.APSThttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15856888534357720661noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8459509847319334273.post-21931434060911935282009-01-29T00:54:00.001-08:002009-01-29T01:06:47.292-08:00Duostock
Our newest sponsor Duostock provided us with some of their products to kick around. In a nutshell its a new two surface M4 stock that makes bringing your rifle from low ready to on target very smooth. The stock stays against your shoulder and "rolls" through the movement from low ready to on target and naturally lines your eye up with your optics/sights. Its a little bit ugly, but sure does work nicely. Visit Duostock at www.duostock.comAPSThttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15856888534357720661noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8459509847319334273.post-86558785878628753532009-01-10T18:13:00.000-08:002009-01-10T18:18:18.955-08:00Strac FAST Video Demonstration

We have a short post for you today. Top has been in contact with STRAC Technologies, a company that makes innovative combat equipment. STRAC has all sorts of gear on their web site, but the "gucci" gear they hooked us up with is the FAST system. The FAST system is, well, fast. This is a magazine for you magazines. The system takes up the same space on your MOLLE rig as two M4 pouches, and stores three M4 magazines in a spring loaded fashion. Check out the videos to see more about how this contraption works. APST has received a couple of these FAST system from STRAC this week, and are rigging them to start giving them some ruthless field testing. Look forward to a full review soon.APSThttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15856888534357720661noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8459509847319334273.post-28742646938202208942008-12-21T18:05:00.000-08:002009-01-10T18:20:08.114-08:00Echo 1 Advanced Squad Carbine (SCAR)
Recently I got my hands on and in an Echo 1 Advanced Squad Carbine (SCAR). Here’s the short version:

Out of the box the E1 SCAR shoots 370 and has a pretty flat shooting hopup. It includes a pretty decent 1100mah 8.4v battery, 2 mags, a barrel extension, and all the usual accessories.

Externally the SCAR is built very solid and has a monolithic upper receiver. The only possible weak point I saw on the design is the tab that holds the stock open.

The gearbox is a standard version 2 gearbox with pretty standard quality parts. It does have metal bushings, unlike the dboys SCAR. By the way, this is a rebranded dboys gun. The gearbox looks like it'll last quite a while.

Personally I find it to be less ergonomic than a comparably sized M4, your results may vary.

Read the full article on AirsoftReview.net
APSThttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15856888534357720661noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8459509847319334273.post-18293533217467266902008-12-21T17:48:00.000-08:002008-12-21T18:28:30.579-08:00New CQC training facility Finding a place to practice for CQC is not easy. In the past we have been able to practice at a metal fabrication shop and warehouse. The shop works great, but after you train at the same place for a long time, it is easy to become too comfortable with the layout, and become desensitized to the area. It is important to have a variety of training areas. When we compete, we usually have no idea what the other side of the door will look like. That was exactly the case the first night we showed up to this huge ARMY hanger. There are at least 20 rooms, multiple floors are stair cases, low light areas, large open spaces, and tight corridors. Hitting that building gave me the same rush that a competition does.

Check out the photos of the hanger.
APSThttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15856888534357720661noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8459509847319334273.post-56927001001548542232008-12-10T00:04:00.000-08:002008-12-21T18:05:48.756-08:00EOtech Replicas I noticed the other night that everyone is starting to show up with EOtech or EOtech replica red dot sites recently. Given that they are so damn expensive I figured I could find a knock-off on Ebay for a good price- not really.

Well, for a real rifle there is no substitute for the real deal, but for airsoft a replica will do the trick. There are a few brands of replicas out there. G&P makes a good one, but they will still run you over $100. The best bang for the buck I have found out there is the EOtech 552 on Ebay Banned for $57! The 552 uses AA batteries instead of the more expensive lithiam batteries. They also have the 551 which is shorter and lower profile, but does not take AA batteries.

EOtech sites have a no-ghost red dot and a clear open site picture, which allows for fast target acquisition and which makes even the more expensive models well worth it.

Here is a picture of Amos at our last CQC practice sporting a real steel EOtech 552. Sexy! We will have more photos of that practice up later tomorrow.APSThttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15856888534357720661noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8459509847319334273.post-79458632808249160012008-12-09T19:12:00.000-08:002008-12-09T21:29:17.311-08:00APST has a blog!Welcome to the Airsoft Pacific Strike team web log.
